'Could you not watch one hour with Me?' |

'Could you not watch one hour with Me?' Not for an hour of
activity did He plead, but for an hour of companionship.
The purpose of the Holy Hour is to encourage deep personal encounter
with Christ. The holy and glorious God is constantly inviting us to
come to Him, to hold converse with Him and to ask such things as we
need and to experience what a blessing there is in fellowship with Him.
Prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is nothing less than a close,
private conversation with a living person who is the risen Jesus Christ
in the Eucharist. It is about as close as we can come in this life to
talking with God face to face. It is a blessing to have this type of
prayer available here at St. Paul's parish. Though we are a small
community, we need to persevere in this prayer. If we are not able to
meet all the hours needed to be covered, then, we may have to severely
limit or even do away with having Adoration. As we begin a new
semester, I ask all students and parishioners to give an hour to
Adoration, so that this prayer life may continue at St. Paul's.
